OmuraYukiko Omura, a Japanese national, became the Executive Vice President of MIGA in May 2004. She completed her term at the end of July after achieving historical results for MIGA, while at the same time, emphasizing the importance of supporting the infrastructure sector. Ms. Omura brings more than 25 years of international professional experience in the financial sector and worked in all major financial centers of the world,New York, London and Tokyo. She began her career as a project economist with the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington DC and worked in the infrastructure sector. She then spent 10 years with JP Morgan in Tokyo, New York and London, among other duties launching the emerging markets operations in the Tokyo office and heading EMSTAR (Emerging Markets Sales, Trade and Research) Marketing for Northern Europe, out of London. Ms. Omura joined Lehman Brothers as Senior Vice President and Head of Emerging Markets Asia, and subsequently became Head of Credit Business,Asia. She then went to UBS Japan as Managing Director and Head of Global Fixed Income and Derivatives Department. Following a merger with SBC, Ms. Omura became the new Head of the merged banks Global Fixed Income and Derivatives Department, but left to join her global partners at Dresdner Bank and became the new Managing Director and Head of Global Markets and Debt Office in Japan. In 2002, Ms Omura created the HIV/AIDS Prevention Fund, a charitable company based in London. Born in Paris, Ms Omura was educated in Japan, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Switzerland and the United States. She has a Bachelors degree in Economics from London University and a Masters degree in Development Economics and a second Masters degree in Political Economics from Boston University.
